US Airforce SNIM Contract Announcement
We are happy to announce a recent award on which Global CI is a named team mate on the SNIM vehicle. "This is another wonderful opportunity for Global CI to continue to grow our cyber-security group and contribute with our SMEs in Enterprise Architecture, SOA, Database Warehousing, Informatics, Infrastructure, Embedded Systems and Applications development." said Mike Ziman, Global CI's CEO.

Global CI as part of the team led by Battlelle has been chosen as one of a select number of teams given the chance to bid on computer software, network, information, modeling and simulation programs for the federal government under the SNIM contract.

Battelle’s selection by the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) means we will be allowed to bid on up to $2 billion worth of task order contracts over the next five years covering cyber-security, networks, software design and other information-related programs in support of the departments of Defense, Homeland Security and other government agencies.  Jeanette Miller, Global CI's lead Business Developer said "Our proprietary TOR (Task Order Review System), HCMT (Human Capital Management Tool) and Business Development style are made to order for this type of contract.  We look forward to meeting the challenge everyday."

How To Be Thankful

Do you take many things in your life for granted? By looking at the world a little differently, you just might realize how much you have to be thankful for. Here's how to stop and smell the roses.

1)  Pay attention to the people around you.  You will find that everybody has something to worry or complain about, not just you. It's easy to focus on those who seem to have it all, but you never know what's going on inside. They might look happy, but they might be miserable as well. Don't look at others and think "I should have it like they do." Look at those who aren't as fortunate as you are and take note of how blessed you are. Count your blessings. If it helps, consider volunteering or start a friendship with someone who is not as fortunate and find small or gradual ways to help them.

2) Practice acceptance. Stop dwelling on how things should be, what could've been, and what you don't have. Recognize what you do have--whether you like it or not, it's yours to keep or to change. Accepting your lot in life is not about resigning yourself to unhappiness. It's about not wasting time wishing for what you don't have. You could try writing a list of things you want, and things you have. Consider the thought that many less fortunate people will want some of the basic things that you have.

3) Become a problem solver. Use your lemons to make lemonade. Get in the habit of asking yourself how you can turn the negative into a positive. The most successful people in life, and those who have the most to be grateful for, are also those who've endured tremendous trials and managed to persevere and turn it all around.

4) Learn to see hardship as a chance to develop character. Imagine yourself looking back ten years from now and recounting your difficult circumstances, and being proud of how you handled it and worked through it.

5) Develop a gratitude journal. It's pretty simple. At the end of every day, write down five things that have made you happy or appreciative that day; not necessarily big things, even small ones count. For example:1) nice weather, 2) being thanked by a customer at work, 3) my pet, 4) having people who love me, 5) a funny joke or a song you like.

6) Take joy in the small things. Blow bubbles. Walk the dog. Get lost in the park. Goof off or watch a funny movie and have a good laugh. Life's treasures are the small pleasures; give thanks for each small gift you receive!

Despite Slight Dip in October, IT Employment Continues to Outperform General Employment Market
-Released by NACCB

Alexandria, VA, November 12, 2008 - While the news in the general employment market in October was horrific, IT employment dipped only slightly, according to the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB), which tracks monthly IT employment.  With a slight dip of 3,000 jobs (.08%) in October, the association reported IT employment stood at 3,916,200. Even with the modest decline Nov IT index Graphin October, IT employment has displayed surprising resilience during the year. From October 2007 through the current month, IT employment was still up 4.5 percent---far outpacing the general employment market. The broader job market continues to shed jobs at an alarming rate, losing 284,000 jobs in September (a significant upward revision) and an additional 240,000 jobs in October.  "The contraction of IT employment in October was not surprising. Given all the turmoil in the economy and the devastating job losses in the general employment market in recent months, we are relieved that the decline in October was a modest one," commented Mark Roberts, CEO of NACCB. "While the long-term growth prospects of IT employment remains very strong, I anticipate there will be significant challenges in the short-term and mid-term in light of the deteriorating macroeconomic picture," said Roberts.  The IT employment index is published by the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB), the national trade association representing IT staffing and solutions firms.
